Merge the v0.1.8 promotion commit back into dev so future development descends from the official release line. This preserves merge history and avoids recreating the previous dev/main divergence from rebased release commits.
The two branch trees are identical; this PR changes history only. Use a merge commit after CI passes. The v0.1.8 release workflow runs separately from main at ef279d1.
