Summary

  • Services can pause a running service and continue a paused one.
  • Both commands use the existing service worker and the same failure dialog as Start and Stop.
  • Pause is enabled only while the service is running. Continue is enabled only while it is paused. Each call opens the service with SERVICE_PAUSE_CONTINUE and sends SERVICE_CONTROL_PAUSE or SERVICE_CONTROL_CONTINUE.

Test plan

  • Select a running service that accepts pause, choose Pause, and confirm the status becomes Paused.
  • Choose Continue and confirm the status returns to Running.
  • Confirm Pause and Continue stay disabled for stopped services, and that a service which rejects pause shows the existing failure dialog.
  • cargo check on this Linux VM stops in the resource build because llvm-rc is not part of the environment. Windows CI compiles resources.

Services can pause a running service and continue a paused one through the existing background worker, using the same failure dialog as start and stop.
