Python Developer | Subsea Pipeline & Riser Engineering
25 years of domain expertise building tools and documentation for subsea pipeline, riser, and subsea structure engineering. My focus is solving real problems in DNV, API, and ASME standardsβdesign calculations, fatigue analysis, and visualization.
Subsea engineering with Python β a relatively untapped space in open source. I'm focused on:
- Pipeline design β wall thickness (DNV-ST-F101, API 579), material selection, code compliance
- Spanning, free-span detection, and VIV analysis
- Inline structures (PLET, PLEM, etc.)
- Pressure vessel design and analysis (ASME VIII)
- Flexible pipe analysis
- Global riser analysis
- ANSYS,ABAQUS,MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN, MARC, Orcaflex
Most subsea engineers still use Excel and locked-in software. I'm building tools to change that.
Pipeline Lateral Buckling β research calculators for lateral buckling, from classical closed-form checks through non-linear models, with synthetic examples and consistency tests.
Offshore J-Tube Pull-In β pull-in models for rigid pipe and flexible umbilicals, with a combined desktop GUI.
Folder Structure Copier β a desktop app and CLI that replicates a folder tree, with or without file contents. Filtered parallel copies that prune .git and node_modules during the walk; about 3x faster than version 1. Python + PyQt6, MIT.
More subsea pipeline tools are in progress.
Good engineering code is:
- Transparent β every calc is documented and traceable to the standard
- Validated β hand-checks and comparison to known solutions
- Portable β minimal dependencies, works in notebooks or production
- Reusable β designed for iteration, not one-off scripts

If you work in subsea, pipeline, or offshore engineering and see something useful β or spot a gap I should fill β reach out. PRs and issues are always welcome.
