UNBEATABLE Ultrawide Fix

A lightweight, native ultrawide fix for UNBEATABLE.

The game seems to have a persistent bug where it will render at a different resolution than the one the monitor is set to on ultrawide display, I'm unsure if this impacts other resolutions, but it's definitely a problem for me at 5120x2160.

I noticed that toggling windowed/fullscreen (Alt + Enter) forced the game to recompute its resolution, fixing the issue for that scene. However, the problem would resurface on the next scene transition (eg. main menu -> arcade -> game). The idea of this mod is to just trigger recomputation automatically when it needs to, self-correcting within a frame on resets.

This fix should work out of the box, as we detect the resolution of the monitor the game is on. It can also be configured to force a specific resolution, though. It's also tiny and native, only using a single DLL with no external dependencies or mod loader needed.

Installation

  1. Download the latest release.
  2. Copy dxgi.dll into the game's install folder — the same folder as UNBEATABLE.exe.
  3. Launch the game.

To uninstall, just delete dxgi.dll.

Note: This is a DXGI proxy DLL. It must sit next to the game executable. If the game already has a dxgi.dll from another mod, they will conflict.

Configuration (optional)

By default the mod matches the resolution of the monitor the game window is on, which is what you want in almost every case.

If you'd rather force a specific resolution, create a file named ultrawide.ini next to dxgi.dll:

[Resolution]
Width=5120
Height=2160

Note

This mod doesn't fix any other potential issues with ultrawide support in the game, except for the resolution mismatch. If the developers did anything to rely on this resolution mismatch, which I imagine may be possible in any menu-like UI, then this could break that in some way (most likely cause cut-offs). I haven't seen any issues with that yet myself, but I'm not that far into the story (as I was holding out for a fix). If you run into any issues, I'm not sure that I'll be able to fix them with this mod, but I'm happy to at least have a look.
