Why

The audit that produced the companion dependency PR found the affected versions by looking them up by hand. Adding Dependabot is the durable fix: advisory-driven update PRs then arrive on their own instead of depending on someone remembering to scan.

This repository pins its whole dev/test toolchain in requirements-dev.txt, so a stale pin silently fixes the resolved version for everyone. certifi is the concrete example — it is not declared in pyproject.toml at all; it arrives through httpx and was only visible in the lock.

What

  • pip ecosystem over / (picks up requirements-dev.txt), weekly, grouped into a single PR to keep the pin set coherent.
  • github-actions ecosystem, weekly, since the workflows pin action versions.

Scope

Deliberately config-only and separate from the dependency upgrade so the upgrade can land or be rejected on its own merits, and so this file does not need re-review when pins change.

Adds a weekly Dependabot configuration so advisories such as the revoked
eMudhra intermediates in the certifi bundle reach this repository as pull
requests instead of waiting for a manual audit.
