Current source readiness, 2026-10-30

Not review-ready yet at 886383c2c29df0d1d9dfaf9e263b47ae58568991. Current main7852ff1c was merged normally and final handshake.go is byte-identical to current main. Both final sources use the same queue-returning handshake API; caller/socket contexts and queue delivery remain intact. No handshake edit or obsolete intermediate replay was guessed. Project-owned socket-race notices now include Polymorfa (Softium LLC), retaining Rajeh attribution and existing MIT scope. The old failed replay/index snapshot remains preserved. Current-head race/lifecycle qualification is unrun. The one bounded standard producer/focused-check claim expired with exit75 before CLAIMED; no command started. Old-head CI and prior publication receipts are historical. No independent approval, package publication, deployment or legal/activation acceptance is inferred. Release owns merges; H53 independent approval remains a merge gate. No new review or watch was requested.

Mechanical refresh attempted under the direct owner instruction after confirming the original T3 owner is settled with no active run. Old head baca49525d3b3f7d7401d8b8f5c28f8ebbb0e7d6, old base b0e8e85a40754fc56031623f1f19811ddec1ce6a, current main 7852ff1c171870a1fe43ce366799a00385572fd9. --rebase-merges --onto stopped at merge ac1f27038dda9a226560bc9323a501d645e50b12, conflict in client.go handshake/lifecycle: context-bound doHandshake(ctx,...) versus legacy queue-returning doHandshake(...). This needs semantic reconciliation; no side was guessed. Full conflict/index/rebase bytes were preserved, then the fresh owned rebase was aborted. Source/remote remains the original head. Recovery ref refs/heads/backup/parity-rebase-20261028/pr-44-baca4952 is verified remotely. No new qualification, source merge or reviewer request. Parity is the sole mechanical refresh owner for this parked attempt; the independent approval and release gates remain.

Concurrent chat socket connections are opt-in through SocketConfig.RaceURLs. The first successful upgrade proceeds to the Noise handshake immediately; pending upgrades are canceled and opened losers close asynchronously with status 1000 and reason loser socket. Single-endpoint connections remain the default. Client.DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ separately suppresses the post-connect passive/active IQ for login payloads that already declare an active connection.

This branch includes main at b0e8e85a4 and preserves its handshake queue and disconnect handling. The review fixes provide the racing symbols on JS/WASM, start read pumps only for winners, release blocked frame delivery on cancellation, preserve repeated and empty header entries, and join unsuccessful endpoint errors in configured order. Initial reconnect classification gives the first matching HTTP status precedence over other racers' network errors. Dial contexts are released independently of opened socket lifetimes.

Validation at baca49525d3b3f7d7401d8b8f5c28f8ebbb0e7d6:

  • Full root tests on Go 1.26.5 and full race tests on Go 1.27.2.
  • JS/WASM build of every root package; CI now checks this target.
  • 50 race-detector repetitions of retry classification using actual HTTP rejection errors, including mixed network/status failures and existing single-endpoint behavior.
  • 50 race-detector repetitions of opened-loser cleanup, prompt winner return, error ordering, pending-dial cancellation, and frame-delivery cancellation.
  • Barback module tests with default and benchmark_legacy builds, plus the race detector.
  • All pre-commit hooks, including vet and Staticcheck, using the CI-pinned tool versions.
  • Generated MEX consistency and git diff --check.

Tests use local WebSocket endpoints. No live WhatsApp session, browser-hosted WASM session, deployment, or release tag was exercised or created.

Part Assessment
API Updated: additive Go SocketConfig.RaceURLs, Client.DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ, socket.ConnectRace and close-reason support. Existing single-socket defaults remain. Polymorfa HTTP handlers, schemas, authentication, webhooks and streaming contracts are unaffected.
SDKs Updated: HyperMeow's Go API and docs, with native and JS/WASM compilation. Polymorfa language SDKs are unaffected because this changes no public HTTP contract or generated type.
CLI Unaffected: no command, flag, default, output or credential change; neither option is exposed through the Platform CLI.
Docs Updated: README connection options and HyperMeow changelog. Public Mintlify guides are unaffected because the Platform runner still pins an older module and exposes neither setting.
Feature releases Updated: standalone library availability and opt-in defaults are documented. Reviewed main commits remain the publication source through Go pseudo-versions. No Platform feature, flag, entitlement, enrollment or rollout changes; no new Platform release plan is needed.
Admin controls Unaffected: no Platform state, limit, grant or operator action is added, and its runner is unchanged. No new staff control is required for these standalone Go caller settings.

Platform consumer inspection used polymorfa commit 18289c6d416fab4e975809c786621a555dc2afbb: apps/api/go.mod pins HyperMeow 90f9e4ec2c88, and apps/api/internal/runner/runner.go configures neither new option. This PR does not update that pin or claim deployed Platform availability.

WhatsApp Web opens wss://web.whatsapp.com/ws/chat and
wss://web.whatsapp.com:5222/ws/chat concurrently on every connect and closes
the one that loses with code 1000 and the reason "loser socket"
(WAWebOpenSocket.js:10, 44-52). A client that makes exactly one attempt per
connect and never closes a second socket differs from the real one by nothing
more than counting.

- socket.ConnectRace opens every URL concurrently, keeps the first to connect,
aborts the dials still outstanding and closes an already-open loser with the
  client's own code and reason.
- FrameSocket.CloseWithReason carries an explicit close reason; Close keeps its
signature and passes an empty one.
- SocketConfig.RaceURLs opts a client in; empty keeps the single-socket path.
- Client.DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ stops the library sending the
passive/active IQ after connect, which the real client never sends: WhatsApp
Web puts passive:false in the login payload itself
  (WAWebGetClientPayloadForLogin.js:14-19).

Walkthrough

The client can race multiple WebSocket endpoints and can disable the post-connect passive IQ. The socket package manages dial cancellation, winner selection, loser closure, and frame delivery. Documentation and CI coverage include the new connection options and JS-WASM builds.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Socket racing and close reasons
socket/framesocket.go, socket/race.go, socket/race_test.go
FrameSocket supports explicit close reasons and separate socket and dial contexts. ConnectRace dials endpoints concurrently, returns the first successful socket, cancels outstanding dials, and closes successful losers asynchronously. Tests cover winner selection, cancellation, close frames, headers, ordered errors, and frame delivery cancellation.
Client connection and passive IQ configuration
client.go, connectionevents.go, README.md, CHANGELOG.md, .github/workflows/go.yml
SocketConfig.RaceURLs selects endpoint racing when it contains multiple URLs. Client.DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ controls whether the post-connect passive IQ is sent. The README and changelog describe these options, and the Go workflow builds packages for JS-WASM.

When the opt-in endpoint racing is enabled, a connection rejected with a non-retryable status can still trigger background reconnects if another endpoint fails with a network error. This contradicts the documented behavior. The impact is limited to the new opt-in mode, and the default behavior is unchanged. A small fix is recommended before or soon after merge.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description does not follow the repository template. The template asks only for a checklist item confirming the contributing guidelines were read and followed. The author's description has no checklist, so that item is missing. The description is also dominated by internal process notes, such as readiness status, parked rebase attempts, approval gates, and release ownership. Those notes do not describe the change for a reviewer. The technical content is substantial: it explains the opt-in RaceURLs behavior, the DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ option, the review fixes, validation runs, and the API/SDK/CLI/docs impact table. Because the template's required element is absent and the body is largely process text, the check cannot pass on the description as written.

Resolution

Add the template checklist with the contributing guidelines item checked, or confirm it was read and followed. Remove or move the internal readiness, rebase-parking, and approval-gate notes out of the PR description, since they are not part of the template. Keep the technical sections: the RaceURLs and DisablePostConnectPassiveIQ behavior, validation commands, and the note on the missing live WhatsApp session test. Remove the unresolved statement that the PR is not review-ready, or update it so the description reflects the current state of the branch.

Review fixes applied

Resolved the three active socket-race findings in ff99cde:

  • Racer cancellation now applies only to pending HTTP upgrades; an opened socket remains bound to the caller context.
  • Every derived racer context is released when its attempt completes, including the winner.
  • The loser-cleanup test now holds both completed upgrades at a barrier and requires status 1000 with reason loser socket.

Files modified:

  • socket/framesocket.go
  • socket/race.go
  • socket/race_test.go

Commit: ff99cde0ab2e60bc2c5a29f412e483c5eabf7341

Validation passed: full tests with and without the race detector, go vet ./..., a 50-run race-detector stress test for the deterministic loser path, and git diff --check.
