Summary

Moves every development dependency to its latest release and drops Ruby 3.2, which reached end of life on 2026-03-31. Dropping 3.2 is visible to consumers, so the next release is 3.0.0. The CHANGELOG [Unreleased] section is written for it.

  • required_ruby_version is >= 3.3.0, and RuboCop targets Ruby 3.3 (no new offenses).
  • RuboCop 1.92, SimpleCov 1.3, Railties 8.1.4, and Bundler 4.0.23. Runtime dependencies are unchanged.
  • rubocop and bundler-audit live in a lint Gemfile group that the matcher test legs skip, so the lint tooling can need a newer Ruby than the gem's floor.
  • CI tests matchers on Ruby 3.3, 3.4, and 4.0. The Rails 6.1 generator job runs on Ruby 3.3, and the Rails 8.1 one stays on 3.4.
  • Dependabot no longer ignores SimpleCov major updates.
  • spec_helper.rb uses skip instead of add_filter, which SimpleCov 1.x deprecates. minimum_coverage 90 is unchanged.
  • .ruby-version is 3.4.12, the Ruby the lint job runs.

Note: the first commit's message predates the Ruby 3.2 removal. The second commit drops 3.2 and corrects the CHANGELOG.

Supersedes #18, #20 and #22.

Verification

Each CI leg reproduced locally, with gems in vendor/bundle as bundler-cache installs them:

  • rspec on Ruby 3.3.13, 3.4.10 and 4.0.1: 112 examples, 0 failures, 98.57% line coverage
  • generators, Rails 6.1.7.10 on Ruby 3.3 and Rails 8.1 on Ruby 3.4: 115 examples, 0 failures
  • RuboCop: no offenses
  • bundle-audit: no vulnerabilities
  • Coverage gate: running a single spec file fails with exit 2 at 49.52%
