Today Console Mode ends a session when the chosen launcher closes (Steam Big Picture, Playnite fullscreen), or manually for Xbox mode.
Idea (requested on Reddit by NRCENTER): a Custom Application mode where you pick any .exe. Console Mode applies the display/audio setup when it starts, watches that process, and restores the desktop when it exits. Steam and Playnite stay as built-in presets on top of the same behavior.
Related: a keyboard hotkey to end console mode, as a backup in case the process isn't detected properly (a controller shortcut already exists: hold Start + Select).
Console Mode stays focused on the couch/console use case, this is a more flexible trigger, not a generic display switcher.
