Voice and video calls went live in the web app (app.langx.io) on 5 October 2026. They are not in the iPhone and Android apps yet. Until now the site said, in about seventy places, that LangX has no live calls.

What changed

  • Homepage: a new FAQ entry, "Can I call my partner?" (web app, unlocks after 5 messages from them, free on every plan, nothing recorded, coming to the phone apps, Allow calls in Settings → Privacy), and a "Voice and video calls" tile in Everything else in the app. The Tandem/HelloTalk FAQ answer no longer says only they have calls.
  • /compare: the "better than Tandem or HelloTalk?" answer, same correction.
  • 66 blog posts: the sentence that said "no live calls" now says calls are on the web for now and coming to the iPhone and Android apps. Comparison tables ("Live speaking", "Voice and calls") say so instead of "No". The FAQ answers "Does LangX have video calls like Tandem / Cambly / Conversation Exchange?" and "does LangX have voice calls?" (Lingbe) are rewritten. The two safety posts (Is Tandem safe, Is HelloTalk safe) add the safety facts: relayed (no IP shared), never recorded, unlocks after 5 messages. The beginners post keeps its point (nobody rings you out of the blue) with the real rule behind it.
  • llms.txt summary, PRODUCT.md and docs/seo/writing-guide.md: the new fact, so the next post starts from it.

Edits are small and sentence-level; no post was rewritten. Store listings, prices, plan limits and token rules are untouched. Calls earn no tokens and are not mentioned on /tokens.

Checked

  • npx vite build passes, npm run check 0 errors, vitest 11/11.
  • Built pages contain the new FAQ entry, tile and answers.

Voice and video calls went live in the web app on 5 October 2026. Every
page that said LangX has no live calls now says they work in the browser
and are coming to the iPhone and Android apps, with the rules that matter
to a reader where the page has room for them: someone can call you once
they have sent you 5 messages, calls are free on every plan, relayed so
no IP address is shared, never recorded, and can be switched off in
Settings -> Privacy.

The homepage gains a FAQ entry and a features tile, the comparison
tables and "keep in mind" lists say "web only for now" instead of "no",
and PRODUCT.md and the SEO writing guide carry the new fact so the next
post starts from it. Nothing about the phone apps, prices, plan limits
or tokens changes.
