Pushing a v* tag now publishes @kurrent/kurrentdb-client and @kurrent/opentelemetry to npm via OIDC trusted publishing, no token secret.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Releases can now be published automatically when a versioned tag is created. The process checks that the tag matches both package versions before building and publishing the packages. If the versions do not match, publishing stops and an error is reported.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

A new tag-triggered GitHub Actions workflow checks package versions, builds and packs the client and OpenTelemetry workspaces, and publishes both tarballs to npm.

Changes: npm package publishing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Workflow trigger and setup
.github/workflows/publish.yml
The workflow runs for tags matching v*. It checks out the repository, sets up Node from .github/files/.nvmrc, enables Corepack, and installs dependencies.
Version validation and package preparation
.github/workflows/publish.yml
Before the build, the workflow checks that the tag matches the v-prefixed versions in both package manifests. It then builds and packs both workspaces.
Publish package tarballs
.github/workflows/publish.yml
The workflow updates npm and publishes both tarballs with public access.

Keep dependency installation outside the OIDC-enabled job.

If npm trusts this workflow to publish, a malicious dependency install script can request an OIDC token and publish before the version check.

Run installation, build, and pack in a job without id-token: write. Pass the tarballs to a separate publish job that uses a compatible preinstalled npm. This separation does not prevent a compromised dependency from altering the tarballs.
