go.mod:3 now makes Go 1.26 the minimum supported toolchain, but CONTRIBUTING.md:24 still advertises Go 1.25 and CI provisions Go 1.25 in .github/workflows/go.yml:22. Users or environments with automatic toolchain downloads disabled will fail before building, so the documented/configured requirement is now inconsistent.

Severity: low
