Geno Roupsky

Freelance software engineer. Remote, from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Contracting since 2007.

I do React-led product front ends, end to end (architecture, SSR, design systems, checkout, tests, CI), and I go full-stack or into the infrastructure when that's what the work needs. Most of what I take on already exists and has to keep shipping, so a lot of the job is making it faster to change.

Most of my work isn't here

Most of my client delivery happens in private repos, under NDA, so it won't show up on this account, and the contribution graph on this page is mostly that work getting counted. For the actual professional record see linkedin.com/in/groupsky.

What I've been working on:

  • Headless commerce, 2021 - present, via djangsters GmbH then compe10ce. Migrating a Salesforce Commerce Cloud storefront to headless PWA Kit, React 18 with SSR. Checkout and Adyen with dynamic payment configuration. A React widget framework so an external CMS renders into the app with SSR. The design system. The PWA Kit 3.x upgrade.
  • yourfirm.de, 2019 - 2022, via djangsters GmbH. React rewrite of a ten-year-old Django frontend. Multi-tenant whitelabel - 100+ portals out of one codebase. 96% test coverage running in 3 minutes. Lighthouse CI with hard limits, so a Core Web Vitals regression fails the build. Scrum Master for the team.
  • Augment.gg, 2021 - 2024. Frontend Lead, then CTO, at an esports analytics startup. A Vue app built around positional match replay, plus a desktop companion (distributed on Overwolf).
  • Automotive parts e-commerce, 2007 - 2013, PHP. Supersession chains that split and merge, two-way ERP integration, and delivery dates computed as a shortest path through supplier route schedules.

What's worth looking at here

  • ya-modbus - Modbus to MQTT bridge (TypeScript, published on npm, releases and CI automated).
  • homy - the home automation system I run.
  • smartbirds-server - open source field data platform for BirdLife Bulgaria. Node.js, PostgreSQL, Android and web, maintained since 2014.

The older repos here are archived or dormant - Android libraries, hardware experiments, hackathon leftovers.

Available for contract. Bulgarian citizen, so anywhere in the EU works. geno@code6.ninja
