Proposal: Create a Dext Showcase / Ecosystem repository #188

Proposal

It would be great to have an official Dext Showcase / Ecosystem repository (or a dedicated section in the Dext organization) that lists open-source and community projects built with the Dext Framework.

This could help developers:

  • discover real-world Dext applications;
  • learn recommended architectural patterns from working projects;
  • see how Dext is being used beyond simple examples;
  • promote projects created by the Delphi community;
  • encourage adoption and contributions to the framework.

A simple structure could be something like:

# Projects built with Dext

## AI / MCP
- Project name
  - Description
  - GitHub repository
  - Article / documentation

## REST APIs
...

## Microservices
...

## Other integrations
...

First project candidate: InterBase MCP Server

A very good first entry would be Fernando Rizzato's InterBase MCP Server, presented in the article “Bridging InterBase with Agentic AI: Announcing the InterBase MCP Server.”

The project demonstrates a modern real-world use case for Dext: connecting InterBase with Agentic AI through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Dext is used to provide the MCP server infrastructure, organize the HTTP pipeline, and expose MCP Tools with native Delphi performance.

This is exactly the kind of project that could demonstrate what developers can build with Dext.

I think a curated showcase would become increasingly valuable as more projects start using the framework.

Possible names:

  • dext-showcase
  • awesome-dext
  • dext-ecosystem
  • projects-built-with-dext

Thanks for considering it!

    With Dext expanding beyond traditional REST APIs into areas such as zero-allocation HTTP processing, Database-as-API, MCP and AI-ready architectures, I believe having a central ecosystem repository would be increasingly valuable. It could serve not only as a showcase of applications built with Dext, but also as a curated directory of integrations, MCP servers, tutorials, benchmarks, conference talks and community resources.

    Hi @kitesoft,

    Thank you so much for this fantastic proposal! I couldn't agree more.

    As Dext continues to evolve into high-performance web APIs, zero-allocation HTTP processing, Database-as-API, and modern AI/MCP integrations, having a dedicated ecosystem showcase is extremely valuable for the community.

    Highlighting real-world applications, such as Fernando Rizzato's InterBase MCP Server, demonstrates what Dext is truly capable of in production.

    What’s coming next:

    1. Official Ecosystem Repository: We will create awesome-dext (under the official organization) featuring curated projects, architectural patterns, MCP integrations, benchmarks, and community resources.
    2. Organization & Branding Update: Over the next few days, we are transitioning all Dext-related repositories to the official @dotpas organization, alongside the launch of our official portal at https://dotpas.dev.
    3. Dext Developer Book: I am currently putting the finishing touches on an official book dedicated to Dext architecture, patterns, and best practices, which will be released very soon!

    Thank you again for initiating this initiative and for your continuous support of the Dext ecosystem. I'll make sure to feature the InterBase MCP Server as one of our flagship showcases right at launch!
