What happened?
Starting Pi with pi-apply-patch installed from this repository shows a host dependency warning:
[Extension issues]
~/.pi/agent/git/github.com/code-yeongyu/pi-apply-patch/package.json
Host-provided extension packages must be declared in peerDependencies with a "*" range, not dependencies:
typebox. Installed copies can bypass the extension loader and create duplicate runtime modules.
The installed extension declares typebox: "^1.3.36" in dependencies. Pi already supplies TypeBox to extensions and requires it to be a peer dependency with a "*" range. Installing a separate copy can bypass the host's module mapping and create duplicate runtime modules. The warning was observed; no runtime failure or duplicate-module behavior was confirmed.
The current manifest also constrains all four Pi SDK peers to >=0.87.1, whereas Pi's package contract calls for wildcard host peers.
Steps to reproduce
-
Install the extension from GitHub:
pi install git:github.com/code-yeongyu/pi-apply-patch
-
Start Pi, or run /reload in an existing session.
-
Observe the warning about typebox in the extension's package.json.
No patch input or model request is needed. The warning appears during extension loading.
Expected behavior
The extension should load without a host dependency warning and use the Pi and TypeBox modules supplied by the running host. Production installation should not install competing copies of those modules. Standalone development should still support tests and type checking.
Versions
pi-apply-patch: 0.1.4, repository commit fe83e1129c47050c9ed221e236c18ddffa5b3cd5.
- Pi: 1.1.0.
- Platform: macOS.
Fix submitted
A fix is already submitted in #57. It declares all five host modules as optional wildcard peers, keeps pinned copies in development dependencies, synchronizes both lockfiles, and corrects the manual production installation instructions.
Verification for that PR includes 104 passing tests, type and lint checks, isolated production installations containing only diff, and actual loading through Pi 1.1.0's public SDK with no errors or warnings. The loaded apply_patch tool successfully adds and updates a file.
The PR is open and has not yet been merged.
