Small tools for oddly specific problems.
nihilbits is where tiny annoyances go when they have survived long enough to deserve an unreasonable amount of attention.
Most tools here begin the same way:
“Surely there is a nicer way to do this.”
Then, apparently, a repository happens.
These utilities are built for my own use first and shared because niche problems are still real problems—and someone else may be staring at the exact same irritating little workflow.
Give JDownloader 2 a proper Rosé Pine makeover without manually chasing files around its installation directory.
Pick Rosé Pine, Rosé Pine Moon, or Rosé Pine Dawn. The installer finds JDownloader, offers backup choices, validates its downloads, shows exactly what it plans to do, and handles the fiddly bits.

One tool is already a toolbox. It is just a very easy toolbox to carry.
More tools will appear when they solve a real problem—not because an empty roadmap looked lonely.
A nihilbits tool should:
- solve one real, specific problem;
- stay focused instead of slowly becoming a platform;
- explain what it is about to change;
- prefer dependable and understandable over needlessly clever;
- include enough documentation that future-me does not need a shovel and a headlamp.
The goal is not to build everything. The goal is to make a few annoying things pleasantly uneventful.
Each tool lives in its own repository:
nihilbits-<toolname>
The repository and local directory use the nihilbits- prefix. The actual tool keeps the shorter display name.
For example:

This repository is the front door and index for the toolbox. It is not a monorepo stuffed with every project, experiment, and mysterious folder named final-final-2.
These projects are built with substantial AI assistance.
I define the problem, direct the work, review the implementation, test the releases, and decide what ships. AI helps with design, code, review, documentation, and the occasional prolonged dispute over one character of terminal spacing.
The responsibility for what gets published remains mine.
Unless a tool says otherwise, original code and documentation are released under the MIT License.
Individual tools may use or interact with third-party projects and assets. Their repositories contain the relevant licenses and notices.
The nihilbits name and visual identity identify this project. The MIT license does not grant permission to imply affiliation with or endorsement by nihilbits.
