Basanta Dhungana
PhD candidate in Genomics, Phenomics & Bioinformatics at North Dakota State University, graduating December 2026.
I build deep learning models for large-scale biological data and validate them against independent biological evidence. My dissertation pretrains a transformer on a maize bulk RNA-seq corpus of more than 41,000 samples and uses the learned representations to infer drought-responsive gene regulatory networks.
Interests: computational genomics, gene regulatory networks, transformers for omics, plant stress transcriptomics, reproducible HPC workflows.
