Multiple pages for Selector

I love the simplicity of the Selector and how easy it is to add items to launch. So no problem.

Describe the solution you'd like
I want to be able to add MORE to the selector. I'd love to be able to have a multiple pages and name each page to be displayed e.g. Games 1, Games 2, Educational 1, Educational 2, Apps 1, Apps 2, Apps 3.

Describe alternatives you've considered
There are other Program Launchers out there, but none are as easy to use as A2 Desktop.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think this aligns fairly well with the vision sketched out in #751 - if the current Shortcut concept is replaced with a folder of aliases, then pages could be supported by nesting folders. I think the classic Mac OS "Launcher" had a similar model.

The main sticking point with moving forward with issue - and why I haven't tackled it yet - is the complications around "Copy to RAMCard", namely (1) each selector entry (shortcuts) has flags for "copy to RAMCard" "never" / "at use" / "on boot" which the current alias mechanism doesn't support, and (2) when DeskTop itself is copied to RAMCard there are now two copies of the shortcuts - the one on the boot disk and the one on the RAM disk. When shortcuts are a single file (LOCAL/SELECTOR.LIST) that is managed by DeskTop itself, it's easy to write to both places. If this is replaced by just a folder of aliases managed by the user, keeping them in sync is far more difficult.

So... I'm thinking that in a future release I may just remove the "Copy to RAMCard" support entirely, which would simplify the code a lot and unlock other projects (like this one). Now that the option is no longer the default and that most active users have faster storage than 5.25" floppies, it doesn't seem as necessary.

Cool, I'm very familiar with the Launcher control panel as part of System 7 / MacOS 8+, 9+.

I've hit its limits on my iMac G3s, but unlikely to with the number of titles available across 4 32meg ProDOS volumes, especially given that I want to launch to Total Replay and Instant Replay as well as Wizard Replay.

I'm not likely interested in using special characters (there may some titles that use ? and !), but I do like that in the Selector items now you can use upper and lower case as well as spaces.

It does sound like Copy to RAMCard could be removed, but of course I'm sure there are those out there who like it.

I use solid state storage solutions via serial on my 2 IIc's and with the CFFA3000k in my IIGS machines.
