The Frame is a compact, project-based Python application for building a searchable collection around photo frame, picture frame, and custom frame content. It uses Flask as a lightweight web framework, Jinja templates for pages, and SQLite for local storage. The included application keeps the first run simple while leaving a clear path from a small digital frame catalog to a larger wall frame or frame set project.
The starter follows a practical application layout instead of hiding behavior behind generated files. Routes, authentication, database access, templates, styles, and tests are all available in the repository. This makes The Frame useful for exploring photo frame design ideas, documenting a picture frame collection, or prototyping an editorial companion for a Samsung Frame or Samsung Frame TV display.
The key features are:
- Account Flow: Visitors can register, sign in, sign out, and keep author actions separate.
- Collection Entries: Signed-in users can create, update, and delete titled entries for a photo frame, picture frame, wall frame, or frame set.
- SQLite Storage: The database schema is small, readable, and initialized through a Flask command.
- Server Templates: Jinja pages provide a reusable base layout, authentication forms, index view, and editing views.
- Responsive Styling: The bundled stylesheet supplies a clean content column, navigation, forms, notices, and mobile-friendly spacing.
- Test Coverage: Pytest fixtures exercise the application factory, database helpers, authentication, and entry workflow.
- Simple Extension Points: Add dimensions, finish, room, image path, or display mode when turning the starter into a custom frame catalog.
The core remains deliberately short. Flask offers a quick start and can scale toward more complex applications, while the separated modules keep database, account, and content behavior easy to inspect. A platform bed frame or metal bed frame inventory can use the same entry workflow as a digital photo frame collection without changing the overall structure.
Choose the package button for a prepared download route:
Or prepare the application directly with PowerShell:
py -m venv .venv
.\.venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1
py -m pip install -e .
$env:FLASK_APP = "flaskr"
flask init-db
flask run --debugThe development server starts locally after the database is initialized. The same project can be installed from Command Prompt or Bash by changing only the environment activation syntax. Python 3.10 or newer is a practical baseline for this Flask and SQLite frame application.
Open the local page, select Register, and create an account. After signing in, choose New to add the title and body for a picture frame entry. Use the body to record size, finish, placement, source image, rotation notes, or a short photo frame design brief. Each author can edit or delete their own entries from the index.
The default schema stores text rather than uploaded media. To evolve The Frame into a digital frame manager, add an image field to flaskr/schema.sql, expose it in the create and update templates, and render the saved path in the index. The existing image picker and media library assets provide visual anchors for that next step. For a picture frame TV or Samsung Frame TV planner, additional fields can represent aspect ratio, orientation, playlist order, and display schedule.
Run the test suite after changing routes, templates, or the schema:
py -m pytest -qThe suite covers registration, login, authorization, creation, editing, deletion, and database lifecycle behavior. A clean run reports 24 passing tests.

Keep schema changes paired with tests, and initialize a fresh database when a migration is not yet available.
