I am a driven Infrastructure & Cloud Specialist with over 35 years of passionate, hands-on computer experience. I combine deep self-taught technical knowledge with a recent, full-time System Administrator specialization (VDAB & IT1, 2024β2025).
I am a calm, analytical doer who excels in structured back-office, network operations (NOC), or cloud infrastructure environments. I leverage modern AI tools effectively to accelerate, design, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure-as-code deployment pipelines.
Before pivoting fully into corporate IT, I spent 21 years mastering logistics management and warehouse operations. This background gives me an edge: I deeply understand operational structure, strict workflow dependencies, and the business impact of high-availability systems. Furthermore, as an independent e-commerce owner, I spent years managing live production web servers hosted on Linux infrastructure via Combell, handling DNS, databases (MySQL), and custom API integrations.
- Cloud & Microsoft Ecosystem: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administration, Azure DevOps (CI/CD workflows), Azure Static Web Apps, Azure Functions, Entra ID, Exchange Online.
- Systems & Virtualization: Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory (AGDLP architectures), Group Policy (GPO), VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Networking & Core Infrastructure: Layer 3 Core Switching, advanced VLAN segmentation, Inter-VLAN routing, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Enterprise NAS Storage (QNAP, RAID configurations).
- Automation & Security: Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / HCL), GitHub Actions, PowerShell scripting, OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication, Threat Mitigation & Network Security (TryHackMe).
- Context: Designing a resilient, multi-tier enterprise environment matching modern corporate standards.
- Action: Deployed a complete Hub-and-Spoke network model in Microsoft Azure according to CAF (Cloud Adoption Framework) and WAF (Well-Architected Framework) guidelines. Built completely via Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), integrated with secure OIDC authentication and fully automated via GitHub Actions CI/CD.
- Result: A fully modular, automated, and audited secure cloud footprint.
- Context: Creating a public-facing cloud presence to host my production portfolio.
- Action: Engineered a serverless web platform deployed onto Azure Static Web Apps, mapped globally via Azure DNS Zones, and managed using Git-driven automation.
- Result: 100% automated release pipeline with near-zero overhead.
- Context: Simulating bare-metal datacenter infrastructure to master enterprise systems management.
- Action: Built a physical 18U server rack housing a TP-Link Jetstream Layer 3 core switch, complex production/lab VLAN splits, multi-node QNAP storage arrays (RAID 5 + SSD caching), and virtualization hypervisors (VMware ESXi / Hyper-V).
- Result: Complete hands-on control over hardware topologies, storage area networks, and low-level troubleshooting.
- Certifications in Progress: Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104)
- Security Labs: Daily threat analysis and network security simulation via TryHackMe (290+ days streak)
- Automation: Scripting logic and programmatic structure optimization via Python (Codecademy)
I am actively pursuing my first internal IT role as a:
- Junior Infrastructure Engineer
- System / Network Administrator
- Azure Cloud Operations Administrator
I aim to join a dedicated infrastructure, datacenter, or NOC team behind the scenes where accuracy, structural integrity, and automated efficiency are highly valued.
If your engineering team is looking for a structured, highly dedicated infrastructure specialist who thrives on solving technical puzzles without the fluff: π Connect with me on LinkedIn or reach out directly via sven.velleman@svenitguy.be.
