[#647] Add Career job storage schema and migration - #666
Adds seven job-board tables with their enums and relations, plus two Member digest preferences that default to false.
Source identifiers can be long, so each unique index uses a generated SHA-256 column instead of the raw text. That keeps entries under PostgreSQL's B-tree size limit.
One migration (0064), migration tests, and a job-board section in docs/DATABASE-USAGE.md.
Deleting a member now also deletes their job alert preferences and application history. The SRD calls for this.
Blade changes are types only: the new Member columns are excluded from the profile form source type and added to two test fixtures.
Ingestion, API endpoints, and UI are left for later PRs.
Test Plan
After the squash, pnpm lint passed with 0 errors and pnpm typecheck passed 33/33.
@forge/db tests: 168/169 pass locally. The failure is the 0010 lineage hash check, which breaks on a Windows CRLF checkout. The committed file matches the expected hash, and the suite passes on an LF checkout.
pnpm db:generate produced no new migration, so the schema and SQL agree.
The 12 migration/lineage tests passed against an isolated PostgreSQL 16 database, including a fresh migrate and a rerun.
Blade src/tests/member: 95/95.
This needs dev-lead schema approval before merge.
Possible follow-ups: add delivery_track to the digest index, and add a test that fails on schema drift.
Checklist
Database: No schema changes, OR I ran pnpm db:generate and committed the generated files in packages/db/drizzle/
Environment Variables: No environment variables changed, OR I have contacted the Development Lead to modify them on Coolify BEFORE merging.
Adds seven career-job storage tables, database relations, a migration, and two false-by-default member digest preferences. The schema includes identifier fingerprints, foreign keys, indexes, and checks for identity, locations, applications, and delivery state. Tests cover migration behavior, existing-data preservation, defaults, uniqueness, and constraints. Supporting documents define storage requirements and record implementation and validation status. This change does not implement API, Cron, or UI workflows.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#647] Coding requirements are met at the reviewed head (4b88ae0). Evidence is migration packages/db/drizzle/0064_career_job_storage.sql and packages/db/src/schemas/job-board.ts.
Seven tables for job, source observation, location, delivery, alert preference, and application: knight_hacks_job, knight_hacks_job_observation, knight_hacks_job_location, knight_hacks_job_digest (delivery), knight_hacks_job_alert_preference, knight_hacks_job_application. knight_hacks_job_source is also present.
Posted dates separate from discovery dates: posted_at is stored apart from first_seen_at and last_seen_at on knight_hacks_job and knight_hacks_job_observation.
City, state, U.S. remote, and unknown locations without losing source text: knight_hacks_job_location has kind (city, state, remote_us, unknown), source_text NOT NULL, and shape and values CHECKs. Multiple locations are multiple rows per job.
Inactive listings kept for history: knight_hacks_job has active and inactive_at with a CHECK. knight_hacks_job_application references job with ON DELETE restrict.
Duplicate-safe delivery at the database level: UNIQUE constraints on knight_hacks_job.discord_message_id, knight_hacks_job_digest(track, scheduled_at), knight_hacks_job_observation(source_id, external_id_hash), knight_hacks_job_alert_preference(member_id, track, kind, target_key), and knight_hacks_job_application(member_id, job_id). Receipt, lease, and sending CHECKs are present.
Migration generated and applies cleanly: 0064 is present and its DDL matches the Drizzle schema for the sections reviewed. The migration test run (12 tests on PostgreSQL 16) is author-reported. I did not run the tests. The migration-test file is present in the PR.
The #647 done-when item for design approval in #633 is non-coding. It is not assessed here. The PR states dev-lead schema approval is still required before merge.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Each changed file connects to #647 scope or supports it:
schemas/job-board.ts, relations.ts, client.ts, and migration 0064 with its journal entry: direct implementation of the seven tables, enums, and relations.
Member columns jobInternshipDigestEnabled and jobNewGradDigestEnabled (knight-hacks.ts; migration 0064): opt-in alert preferences defaulting to false, part of the alert preference scope.
ON DELETE cascade on knight_hacks_job_alert_preference and knight_hacks_job_application member foreign keys: a consequence of the per-member table design. The PR states the SRD requires it.
apps/blade member-profile-form-values.ts type omission and two test fixtures: needed so the new Member columns do not enter the profile form source type.
migration-lineage.test.ts (65 entries, index 64): required by the new journal entry.
job-board-migration.test.ts: tests for the new schema.
docs/DATABASE-USAGE.md and .forge/features/career-job-storage/* (spec, SRD, status, test cases): design and usage documentation for the new tables.
No changed file implements ingestion, API endpoints, or UI. The PR states those are deferred.
Full details: No Hardcoded Secrets
Explanation
No hardcoded API keys, passwords, or secret values were introduced. Credential-like fields are schema columns or constraints only. Tests generate UUIDs and random bytes at runtime and use parameterized values; no credential-format literals or URL userinfo were found in the PR additions.
Full details: No Typescript Escape Hatches
Explanation
No TypeScript escape hatch is introduced. Changed TypeScript additions contain no any, @ts-ignore, @ts-expect-error, or non-null assertion. The only added ! tokens are logical negations in test guards.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 9 files. (7 skipped: 7 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Resolve the conflicting commit status in the handoff.
Lines 66-68 say the migration is uncommitted and that no commit or push was made. Lines 148-149 say the user authorized committing and pushing. The file is already tracked at the reviewed head (16c558e5), so the first statement is out of date.
Keep one current handoff state. Remove the stale commit and push wording. Keep the checkout limitations that still apply.
Line 3 says the design is approved. The PR objectives say design approval in #633 is still outstanding. Line 87 says #633 review is "not claimed complete". State on Line 3 that the approval is a local conversation, not the #633 design review.
Move "Identifier fingerprints" into the Career section.
This ### heading sits after "Hacker teams" under "## Undocumented columns". It documents Career job storage. Readers will not find it there.
Move it to the end of "## Career job storage", after Line 211. Wrap Job.identityHash, JobSource.boardKeyHash and JobObservation.externalIdHash in backticks.
