Summary

This PR will pin the release workflow back to Python 3.14. Renovate bumped it to 3.15.0 in 2056480, and that made the conda job fail during environment setup. The solver picked python-3.15.0rc1, which needs _python_rc, a package conda-forge doesn't provide.

Changes

Revert release workflow to Python 3.14:

  • Set python-version back to 3.14.8 for the two setup-python steps in .github/workflows/release.yaml.
  • Set python-version back to "3.14" for the conda job in .github/workflows/release.yaml.
  • Leave the other workflows (pr.yaml, coveralls-main.yaml, update_regression_baselines.yaml, weekly-regression.yaml) on the 3.15 versions Renovate set.

Impact

  • The conda job in the release workflow can complete environment setup again.
  • The release workflow uses a stable Python release instead of a pre-release build.

Great spot. Can you check the other software packages, I suspect this might have crept in over there already
