Hey there 👋,
Hi, I’m Austin Casteel — a cybersecurity specialist, AI engineer and researcher, and passionate home chef. My career is rooted in systems thinking, whether I’m securing digital infrastructure, researching and engineering intelligent systems, or perfecting a new recipe.
I’ve always been drawn to complex problems and the challenge of understanding how systems work, how they can be improved, and sometimes how they can be pushed beyond what we thought was possible. That curiosity fuels my work in cybersecurity and AI, where I explore the intersection of technology, security, intelligence, and the human factor. Both fields demand precision, adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to keep learning.
But when the laptop closes, you’ll likely find me in the kitchen. Cooking is where creativity and experimentation take the lead — often inspired by the same curiosity that drives my work in science and technology. Whether I’m engineering an AI system, investigating a security problem, or reverse-engineering a signature sauce, I’m always chasing that moment when everything just clicks.
I believe in connecting disciplines, challenging boundaries, and never settling for just one path. Technology may be where I build, research, and solve problems, but curiosity is what connects it all.
This is a place where AI, security, and spice all belong.
I am a maintainer & the web developer for ProjectNaomi.
The Naomi Project is an open source, privacy focused, technology agnostic platform for developing always-on, voice-controlled applications!
Naomi software integrates different home text-to-speech & speech-to-text systems, plugins and technologies into a single solution. It provides uniform user interfaces, and a common approach for developing always-on, voice-controlled applications, regardless of the number of devices and sub-systems involved.
