- IPC uses Unix domain sockets, including native Discord and the existing Flatpak/Snap socket locations.
- Unity and Discord must run as the same user, with access to the same runtime directory.
- The client checks
XDG_RUNTIME_DIR,/run/user/<effective-uid>on Linux,TMPDIR,TMP,TEMP, and/tmp, and retries when Discord is unavailable. This also covers desktop launchers that omitXDG_RUNTIME_DIR. - Sandboxed installations still need permission to access the Discord IPC socket. The package does not change sandbox permissions.
- The connection indicator turns green after Discord completes the RPC handshake.
- Open the Discord desktop app; the browser version does not provide a local IPC connection.
- Open
Window → Discord RPC Settings, enable Debug Logging, and click Apply Settings. The next connection attempt logs the attempted pipe/socket paths and their failure reasons. - On Linux, check that Unity can access Discord's socket; on Windows, run both applications as the same user.
