Notes from the 2026 course #1

Description

@tiagoams

01-how to run python

  • Make it hands-on so that students follow along.
  • Remove python console and just keep ipython? This feels too techie when the students don't yet have python working at the beginning of the day.
  • Remove jupyter notebook
  • Make sure students are running the notebooks before proceeding.
  • Include image and instructions of starting using Anaconda Navigator (cefas teachers don't have it installed).
    03-syntax
  • Remove AI. Full session on day 2 so that students can grapple with basics unaided..

04- Objects

  • Reduce the time spend on the pointers and references example. Can be shrunk in time to give time for Operators (second part of 04-). This might finish at 12:30 or spill over to afternoon.

11- Modules

  • Remove advisory against import * as this is no longer used sidely
