Please remove dependencies on **rgdal**, **rgeos**, and/or **maptools**

This package depends on (depends, imports or suggests) raster and one or more of the retiring packages rgdal, rgeos or maptools (https://r-spatial.org/r/2022/04/12/evolution.html, https://r-spatial.org/r/2022/12/14/evolution2.html). Since raster 3.6.3, all use of external FOSS library functionality has been transferred to terra, making the retiring packages very likely redundant. It would help greatly if you could remove dependencies on the retiring packages as soon as possible.

@rsbivand Thanks. I had actually done that on my working copy, but since that was the only change hadn't submitted to CRAN. I can't remember if CRAN is accepting submissions this week. If so, will try to submit the change.

@rsbivand The last version I submitted removed the actual dependencies but I didn't catch all the places that stated them as a dependency. A new version is headed to CRAN (accepted just has to appear) that fixes that. Thanks for the heads up

@rsbivand Thanks, dang it is an unneeded Suggest. I had removed the actual dependency awhile ago. Will resubmit once I can check the change.
