From 7972a4c6e63b1912303f5a5c3759464efe5d2a6c Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Jeff Huleatt <3759507+jhuleatt@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Tue, 6 Oct 2026 20:34:25 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] revert: point the samples at us-central1 again Reverts the region strings from #1327 (90765b3b). That change assumed the default region for Cloud Functions had moved to us-east4. It hasn't: the Firebase CLI still falls back to us-central1 for HTTP, callable, scheduled, and task queue functions, and none of these samples set a region. us-east4 is the new default for App Hosting and Data Connect, not for Functions. Kept from #1327: - the `.value` on SupportedRegion in the Python task queue samples - the requiresRole/requiresAPI import from the firebase-functions root - the us-east1 example URLs in Node/quickstarts/https-time-server, which deploys to us-west1 and us-east1 Supersedes #1346. --- Node-1st-gen/assistant-say-number/action.json | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/fulltext-search-firestore/public/index.js | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/github-to-slack/README.md | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/okta-auth/setup.js | 4 ++-- Node-1st-gen/paypal/README.md | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/quickstarts/https-time-server/README.md | 8 ++++---- .../quickstarts/https-time-server/functions/index.js | 4 ++-- .../quickstarts/taskqueues-backup-images/README.md | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/quickstarts/uppercase-firestore/README.md | 6 +++--- Node-1st-gen/quickstarts/uppercase-rtdb/README.md | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/spotify-auth/public/popup.html | 4 ++-- Node-1st-gen/username-password-auth/public/main.js | 2 +- Node-1st-gen/youtube/README.md | 2 +- Node/call-vertex-remote-config-server/client/main.ts | 2 +- Node/call-vertex-remote-config-server/functions/index.js | 2 +- Node/quickstarts/firestore-sync-auth/README.md | 2 +- Node/quickstarts/genkit-helloworld/README.md | 4 ++-- Node/quickstarts/uppercase-firestore/README.md | 4 ++-- Node/remote-config-server-with-vertex/functions/index.js | 2 +- Node/taskqueues-backup-images/README.md | 2 +- Node/youtube/README.md | 2 +- Python/http-flask/README.md | 6 +++--- Python/post-signup-event/functions/main.py | 4 ++-- Python/quickstarts/https-time-server/functions/main.py | 4 ++-- Python/taskqueues-backup-images/functions/main.py | 2 +- 25 files changed, 39 insertions(+), 39 deletions(-) diff --git a/Node-1st-gen/assistant-say-number/action.json b/Node-1st-gen/assistant-say-number/action.json index 62fead5145..f7d044f64c 100644 --- a/Node-1st-gen/assistant-say-number/action.json +++ b/Node-1st-gen/assistant-say-number/action.json @@ -11,7 +11,7 @@ "intent": "assistant.intent.action.MAIN" }, "httpExecution": { - "url": "https://us-east4-.cloudfunctions.net/sayNumber" + "url": "https://us-central1-.cloudfunctions.net/sayNumber" } } ] diff --git a/Node-1st-gen/fulltext-search-firestore/public/index.js b/Node-1st-gen/fulltext-search-firestore/public/index.js index e4763d0071..f96c2eab07 100644 --- a/Node-1st-gen/fulltext-search-firestore/public/index.js +++ b/Node-1st-gen/fulltext-search-firestore/public/index.js @@ -53,7 +53,7 @@ function searchAlgoliaAuthenticated(query) { .then(function(token) { // The token is then passed to our getSearchKey Cloud Function const searchKeyUrl = new URL( - `https://us-east4-${PROJECT_ID}.cloudfunctions.net/getSearchKey/` + `https://us-central1-${PROJECT_ID}.cloudfunctions.net/getSearchKey/` ); return fetch(searchKeyUrl, { headers: { Authorization: 'Bearer ' + token } diff --git a/Node-1st-gen/github-to-slack/README.md b/Node-1st-gen/github-to-slack/README.md index cbb9492103..b1fd16172a 100644 --- a/Node-1st-gen/github-to-slack/README.md +++ b/Node-1st-gen/github-to-slack/README.md @@ -23,7 +23,7 @@ To test this integration: - Configure this sample to use your project using `firebase use --add` and select your project. - Install dependencies locally by running: `cd functions; npm install; cd -` - [Add a WebHook to your GitHub repo](https://help.github.com/articles/about-webhooks/) with the following settings: - - Payload URL: `https://us-east4-.cloudfunctions.net/githubWebhook` + - Payload URL: `https://us-central1-.cloudfunctions.net/githubWebhook` - Content type: `application/json` - Secret: `A_SECRET_YOU_DEFINE` - Which events would you like to trigger this webhook? `Just the push event.` diff --git a/Node-1st-gen/okta-auth/setup.js b/Node-1st-gen/okta-auth/setup.js index 930ace5822..c48fe17a51 100755 --- a/Node-1st-gen/okta-auth/setup.js +++ b/Node-1st-gen/okta-auth/setup.js @@ -63,7 +63,7 @@ When you deploy the Cloud Function, the endpoint looks like: https://.cloudfunctions.net/api/firebaseCustomToken` : ` When using the emulator, the endpoint is the following: -http://localhost:5001/${GCLOUD_PROJECT}/us-east4/api/firebaseCustomToken` +http://localhost:5001/${GCLOUD_PROJECT}/us-central1/api/firebaseCustomToken` ); const TOKEN_ENDPOINT_PROMPT = `\ @@ -121,7 +121,7 @@ const OKTA_CLIENT_ID = '${oktaClientId}'; // The complete URL of your custom token endpoint.
